# roark metric policy update

> Update a metric policy

Updates an existing metric policy. System policies cannot be modified.

```bash Synopsis theme={"theme":{"light":"everforest-light","dark":"everforest-dark"}}
roark metric policy update <policy-id> [options]
```

> [!NOTE]
>
> Calls `PUT /v1/metric/policies/{policyId}`

## Arguments

**policy-id** `string` *required*

The ID of the metric policy to update.

## Options

**--name** `string`

Name of the metric policy.

**--status** `string`

Status of the policy. One of `ACTIVE`, `INACTIVE`

**--conditions** `array`

Condition groups. Omit to keep existing, provide empty array to remove all conditions.

**--metrics** `array`

Metric definitions to collect when this policy matches. Replaces the policy's whole metric list: a metric sent without settings goes back to its default, so resend a metric's settings to keep them. Omit to keep the current metrics.

## Example

```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"everforest-light","dark":"everforest-dark"}}
roark metric policy update <policy-id>
```

Every command also takes the [global options](/cli-reference/overview.md#global-options) and sets one
of the [exit codes](/cli-reference/overview.md#exit-codes).
